The Positive Coaching Alliance is an outstanding resource for learning how to keep your players motivated and engaged in a constructive way. One of the focuses of the PCA is building players up, rather than tearing them down. That’s especially important for younger players who are just starting to learn whatever game they’re interested in.

In the video above, Charlie Slagle, a soccer coach in many divisions for decades and a former Division I coach of the year for Davidson, talks about the importance of making sure players are having fun. And he suggests that player retention is one of the best ways to evaluate whether a coach is doing a good job.

Part of Soccer in the Bluegrass’ mission is to help grow the game. We hope you’ll check out all the Positive Coaching Alliance has to offer.

Watch the video and then check out PCA’s “Emotional Tank Toolkit for Coaches” and its other resources available on the site.
